The workers' health insurance fund federation registered association (AEV) is a freiwilliger union of the workers' health insurance funds.

Tasks

Major tasks of the federation are among other things

  • the agency of the interests of the member cashes in the public and opposite the legislator
  • leading negotiations with the Leistungserbringern pharmacies etc.) within the range of the legal health insurance and
  • the consultation of the attached health insurance companies regarding their task perception.

The AEV functions as one of the central associations of the health insurance companies in the sense of the SGB V.

History

The federation was created in the year 1938, at that time still under the designation "federation of free health insurance companies". Since the management of the federation the executive committee of the federation of the employee health insurance schemes (Association of Employee's Health Insurance Comp) is incumbent on the year 1957, whereby the AEV did not lose however its legal independence.

Member cashes

The following health insurance companies are members of the federation:

  • private health insurance fund (GEK)
  • HZK - Health insurance company for building and occupations of wood
  • KEH private health insurance fund

In these three cashes altogether 1.64 million persons are insured (conditions 1.1.2006), of it more than 1.5 million with the GEK.
