By an old-age pension one understands a pension, whose purchase is dependent on reaching a fixed age limit among other things.

According to the regulations of the sixth book social legislation (SGB VI) are old-age pensions

• the rule old-age pension,
• Old-age pensions for of many years Versicherte,
• Old-age pensions for severely disabled humans and
• Old-age pensions for of many years miners busy under days.

By the pension reform law 1999 from 16 December 1997 (BGBl. I P. 2998) were only ensured starting from 1 January the 2000 following old-age pensions under certain personal conditions (inventory protection):

• Old-age pensions for women and
• Old-age pensions because of unemployment or after part-time work for elderly people work.
