A maternity insurance or a parents shank insurance is a social security with the goal of replacing the acquisition loss of a during the time of the maternity protection.
Switzerland was the last country in Europe, which did not know a maternity insurance. Since 1945 an order for condition existed it to the federation to introduce such was missing however at the political will to convert this by initiative of the people to the government given order.

After people no a maternity insurance national to the last collecting main on 13 June 1999 initiated and converted some cantons (canton Geneva, canton law) own projects for kantonale maternity insurances.
During the Swiss federal tuning from 26 September 2004 the collecting main for a maternity insurance was accepted by Swiss being correct people.
