The law of supervision of insurance (VAG) regulates the supervision over insurance company, thus above all cooperative insurance companies on mutuality and corporations. It does not apply to social security enterprises. The supervision is incumbent on essentially the Federal Institution for the supervision of financial service. This Federal Institution was created at the 1.Mai 2002 and it consists of the supervision of insurance, the state supervision of the banks and the supervision of security.
