The institute for supplying of the federation and the countries (VBL) is a supply installation for the employees of the public service, carried from the federation and the countries. It grants achievements of the operational age precaution.

The VBL is organized as legally responsible institute of the public right. It is subordinate to the supervision of the Federal Department of Finance. The VBL has its seat in Karlsruhe. Organs of the VBL are the executive committee and the board of directors.

Insurance with the VBL

With the institute for supplying about 1.9 million employees and worker of the public service are insured. About one million humans receive a pension from the VBL.

Employees in the public service are usually obligation-insured due to the collective agreement over the operational and/or additional Altersversorung of the persons employed public services (ATV) in the VBL. Additionally the VBL offers also insurance to possibilities for the freiwilligen.

The contribution for statutory insuree employee amounts to (since 1 January 2002) 7.86 per cent (auxiliarysupply-requiring) of the payment. Of it the employer carries for 6.45 per cent and self-portion 1.41 per cent.
