The Hanseati health insurance company (HEK) is a country widely active legal health insurance company with seat in Hamburg. It is a private health insurance fund and belonged to the federation Angestellten-Krankenkassen.Die HEK 1826 was based, therefore already 55 years before the introduction of the German social security in the year 1881.
