The private health insurance fund (GEK) is a body of the public right and Germany fifth-largest private health insurance fund.

History

Them became to 4. May 1878 as "national ill and funeral cash of the trade union of the German gold and silver workers and related occupation comrade" in Swabian based. Under the roof of the GEK several small private health insurance funds came up by fusions:

• Neptun private health insurance fund (N-EK) (since 1 January 1998)
• MORE - the private health insurance fund (since 1 January 2004)
• Printer health insurance company Hanover (since 1 January 2004)

Structure

In the year 2005 the GEK cared for 1.5 million Versicherte at more than 180 locations in completely Germany. The head office is in the Swabian local part Unterbettringen.

The GEK is member in the workers' health insurance fund federation registered association (AEV). Their chairman of the board is since 1996 Dieter lever, deputy chairman of the board is since 1 September 2005 Rolf Ulrich Schlenker.

In the German insurance landscape the GEK applies as one of the most efficient health insurance companies with particularly low administratives expense. A coworker cares for approx. 600 Versicherte (total average: the GEK country widely fewer addresses than the Barmer private health insurance fund maintains 350 Versicherte per coworker) and with approx. 180 offices alone in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In since 1992 taking place the annual inquiry "customer monitor Germany" to achievements and quality of the 35 largest single cashes could occupy the GEK continuously since 1997 place 1.

The current rate of contribution is with 12,8%.
