The Federal Social Insurance Institution for employee (Federal Labour Office) with head office in Berlin was the largest carrier of the legal old age pension insurance in Germany and one of the largest social security benefit carriers of Europe. Starting from 1 October 2005 it was transferred by law into the German old age pension insurance under the new name German old age pension insurance federation, into whatever the VDR flows. Like the other carriers (regional carriers, in former times: National insurance offices and the second federal carrier, the German old age pension insurance scarce shank course lake) it remained legally independent thereby.
