A damage event can occur in three kinds:

  • as personal injury: A natural person suffers an injury, poisoning or death.
  • as damage to property: A thing suffers a damage (destruction, damage), for example inundation, explosion, accident.
  • as financial damage: The damage consists the destruction or damage of a valuable painting of a loss of property, for example: The damage to property (canvas, framework, color) is usually insignificantly, the immatrielle depreciation (measurably for example as current selling price) however can be enormous.

With particularly damage-pregnant cases of damage one speaks of a large damage event (gSE) like for example earthquake, crashes of airplanes, fires, explosions, mass freeway pileups or wide inundations.
