Common federal committee (G-BA) a new German health-political committee is called, which was used by at the beginning of the yearly 2004 into force the stepped law for the modernization of the legal health insurance (GMG). Right basis forms "§ the 91 of the fifth book social legislation (SGB V).

The common federal committee replaces several other committees (among other things the federal committee of physicians/health insurance companies) and makes various decisions with questions, which concern the health supply. Among other things it concretizes the service catalog of the legal health insurance.

In this committee cooperate health insurance companies, Leistungserbringer (e.g. physicians and representatives of hospital operators) and impartial ones. Also patient representatives participate in the committee with advisory voice. The common federal committee can be regarded as the most important and most central committee of the common autonomy in the health service. The G-BA meets depending upon subject in changing compositions. Within the range Disease management programs (DMP) in accordance with "§ 137f SGB V were adopted after guidelines for diabetes Mellitus type 1 and type 2, cancer of the breast and koronare heart illness in September 2004 the fifth such recommendation for the range asthma bronchiale and "“chronic obstructive breath way illness"”.
