A child educating time is rated within the calculation of pensions as a compulsory contribution time. Child educators receive maximally 0.0833 points of payment for each calendar month ("§ 70 Abs.2 SGB VI). This corresponds to average earnings/services (1 point of payment per year) and results in today (conditions 2005) max. 2.18 euro pension increase for each month on child educate time for children before 1 January 1992 is born, ends the child educating time of 12 calendar months at expiration of the monthly of the birth ("§ 249 SGB VI). For children starting from 1 January 1992, end 36 calendar months are born the child educating time at expiration of the monthly of the birth ("§ 56 SGB VI).

The child educating times are a request achievement and must together with the consideration times, under collecting main of the album or the birth certificates of the children, with which responsible old age pension insurance are requested.

A child educating time recognition if,

• the education is carried out by the requesting
• the education in the Federal Republic took place (and/or in one the FRG area of equal standing)
• the parents are not excluded from the charge

Monthly pension for full Kindererziehunsgzeiten in Germany

• with children were born before 1 January 1992, monthly acknowledgment of compulsory contribution times at a value of 26,12 euro in the old and 22.94 euro in the new Lands of the Federal Republic.

• with children were born after 31 December 1991, monthly acknowledgment of compulsory contribution times at a value of 78,36 euro in the old and 68.88 euro in the new Lands of the Federal Republic.

Child educating times

(1) Child educating times are times of the education of a child in its first three Lebensjahren. For parents ("§ 56 exp. 1 sentence 1 No. 3 and exp. 3 No. 2 and 3 first book) a child educating time is taken into account, if

1. the educating time this parents to assign is,

. the education taken place in the area of the Federal Republic of Germany stood for 2 or such and

3. the parents is not excluded from the charge.

(2) An educating time is to be assigned to the parents, who educated its child. Credit several parents the child together educated, is assigned the educating time to parents. If parents educated their child together, they can determine by an agreeing explanation, them to which parents are to be assigned. The allocation can be limited to a part of the educating time. An agreeing declaration of parents is to be made with effect for future calendar months. The allocation can take place retroactively for up to two calendar months before delivery of the explanation, it is, for parents is determined or over a supplying reconciliation accomplished a valid decision with consideration of these times an achievement binding. To the delivery for the explanation "§ 16 of the first book concerning the filing of an application applies accordingly. If parents did not make an agreeing declaration, the educating time is to be assigned to the nut/mother. (3) An education took place in the area of the Federal Republic of Germany, if the educating parents usually were there with the child. In the area of the Federal Republic of Germany stands for an education directly, if the educating parents abroad usually were with his child and during the education or directly before the birth of the child because of an occupation or an independent activity compulsory contribution times exercised there has. This applies with a common stay of spouses abroad also, if the spouse of the educating parents has such compulsory contribution times or only does not have, because he belonged to in "§ 5 exp. the 1 and 4 persons specified or was released from the liability to insure.

(4) Parents are excluded from the charge, if them

1. during the educating time or before the birth of the child an occupation or an independent activity in the area of the Federal Republic of Germany exercised directly, due to

A) of a temporally limited delegation into this area ("§ 5 fourth book) or

b) of a regulation between or supra-national right or a regulation made for officials of international organizations ("§ 6 fourth book)

is not subject to the regulations over the liability to insure.

2. during the educating time to in "§ 5 exp. the 1 and 4 persons specified belongs, a partial pension because of age refers or from the liability to insure released and after this time had not been insured for a larger amount is or

3. during the educating time delegate, Minister or parliamentary undersecretaries of state was and without requirement on supply did not separate.

(5) The child educating time begins at expiration of the monthly of the birth and ends after 36 calendar months. During this period by the educating parents if a further child is educated, for whom a child educating time to it is to be taken into account, the child educating time for this becomes and each further child by the number of calendar months of the simultaneous education extends.
