The charter is the name for a product of the motor vehicle insurance nature. The insured vehicle gets free assistance by the insurer in case of a breakdown, an accident or a theft.

The oldest charter insurer in Germany is the General German Automobile Association, there contains the membership in the association also the charter insurance.

Meanwhile offer to most Kfz insurer also the optional charter in the Kfz liability insurance, or General German Automobile Association Konkurenzprodukte, e.g. the Roland charter are offered.

Achievements

The achievements are essentially identical from insurance to insurance, vary however strongly in the detail.

• Breakdown assistance: Re-establishment of the readiness to drive of the insured vehicle at the breakdown or accident place.
• Tow: Transport of the failed KFZ into the next workshop.
• Mountains: The vehicle is brought the fastened roadway elevated/. Usually insures for an unlimited period.
• Far and return trip: Transport (entitled) of the passengers to the destination and back to the repaired vehicle. Possible variants in order of the frequency: Rented car, course, flight.
• Vehicle return motion (Pick UP): The failed KFZ is brought into the workshop at the place of residence (insures for an unlimited period, usually only from the foreign country).
• Spare part dispatch: The insurer organizes the procurement and the dispatch of a necessary spare part, abroad not to get is (for an unlimited period insures, usually only from the foreign country).
• Spare driver: Position of a spare driver with driver loss by illness/accident.

Vehicle assumption: Condition costs up to the re-establishment of the KFZ.

• Overnight expenses: Hotel costs of all entitled passengers up to the re-establishment of the readiness to drive.
• Other: Route planning, reimbursement of costs for selforganized, loss of use, customs/scrapping, organizational achievements without assumption of the costs (Assistance achievements).

Exclusions

• Most frequent Stolperfalle is the rented car. If the damage place is in the proximity of the residence, no rented car is usually placed. This takes place also, if the insured vehicle came from own Kraft into a workshop.
• The charter covers different risks: Breakdown (braking, break or use damage), accident (from the outside occurred, unforeseeable event) and theft (or - attempt). Forgotten keys in the car, or, a frozen over door lock do not rank among it.
• The costs of the repair are not insured.
• In the Kfz liability insurance only a defined vehicle is insured.
